Right now, the world is using internal combustion engine-powered vehicles that use either petrol or diesel to run and they are a depleting resource and also cause a lot of pollution which is the reason why everyone is advocating the use of other resources so as to make sure that we reduce our carbon footprint as well as make sure that the damages caused due to ICE vehicles is minimized. Since a decade, we are seeing a change in the automotive industry as everyone is shifting from ICE to Electric vehicles but the problem with EVs right now is that it takes a while to charge as well as its battery capacity also has limitations.
However, we know that for business usage such as logistics, EVs definitely make a lot of sense and more so for last-mile logistics as they don’t have to travel a lot and usually within a few kms for a single delivery which means that a capacity of 200-300 kms per day can help them fulfil the daily needs. Talking about logistics, there is a new startup in Europe that wants to provide last-mile delivery vehicles to logistics companies and this startup is named Papaya.
With Papaya’s software, logistics companies can source EVs or Light EVs and also manage them easily which they call is not being done at a scale that they are doing. There is no shortage of vehicle management systems but there definitely is a shortage of EV management in the industry and this is where Papaya has chosen its niche. Papaya’s co-founder Renato Serra says “No one is really connecting all sides of the market as we are doing, and also building the tools they need to manage the relationship better,”
Papaya’s CEO Santi Ureta says “Every single provider has their outdated systems — Google Forms, spreadsheets, emails or clunky fleet management tools — and the fleet needs to interact with all these tools to report incidents and maintain their availability, which makes it really difficult and inefficient.” She adds “Papaya is centralising all these different processes and tools into one single operating system, allowing the fleet to have full visibility, accountability and transparency about the status of their vehicles, and manage all their relationships in the same place.”
