X will become the latest platform to test live stream e-commerce: Report

You must be aware that there has been a huge lot of changes on X, which was formerly named Twitter, ever since Elon Musk bought the platform last year. Or should we say that Elon Musk was forced to buy the platform after placing a bid and then backing out of it which then meant legal action came his way and to avoid the legal fees, he decided to go through with the purchase. Having said that, we can say that there are things which have been done right by Twitter since acquisition as well and one of them was largely cutting down on workforce and despite its current workforce which is less than 20% of what it was earlier, the company is managing to do well.

Now that Elon has also announced his plans to make X the everything app where you can do e-commerce, payments and everything else, we are seeing the first steps being taken in that direction. It is announced that you will soon see live stream shopping on X in the form of a collaboration with Paris Hilton who will do live streams on the platform and users can buy the products showcased during the stream. It is yet to be revealed how everything will be played out but I guess this is a test so the company will figure out things along the way as well.

On the other hand, we have also seen recently that Indonesia banned live stream shopping on social media apps such as Facebook and TikTok which means that X will be banned from doing so inside the country too. Therefore, the platform will already miss the live stream audience of Southeast Asia’s biggest markets but we can say that Paris Hilton’s audience will mostly come from the US so the company will have to think about Southeast Asia later on. Paris Hilton said in the announcement that “together we’re going to be exploring new ways to connect with all of you across video, live video, live shopping, and even Spaces. And we’re just getting started.” and more details will be revealed soon.
